We love you dad and want you to know you were loved by so many!"

Cimperman, Mary (97)

Mary Elizabeth Cimperman (née Semenak), 97 years old, died peacefully of natural causes, surrounded by family, on April 29, 2020, at her home in Brecksville, OH.  Born on March 25, 1923, in Clarksburg, WV, she was the seventh of 11 children of Barbara and John Semenak. After graduating from Washington Irving High School, she moved to Cleveland, where she worked in billing at Republic Steel.

In 1946, she married Louis Cimperman and started raising four children. A homemaker of great strength, endurance, and perseverance, she had a unique sense of humor, sharp wit, and utmost class. She loved listening to music, dancing, traveling, cooking, sewing, shopping, maintaining and decorating beautiful homes, but most of all, spending time with her family. As her children grew up and moved out of the home, she started helping at her husband's Cimperman Market on Norwood Road in the Slovenian neighborhood of Cleveland. After 54 years together, she lost her husband in 2000. Since then, she enjoyed her children and grandchildren, relishing her independent life at home with a succession of Himalayan cats each named “Sweetie.”

She was the longest lived of her siblings, who all predeceased her. Although she will be profoundly missed, she lives on in the hearts and memories of her large beloved family. She is survived by her children Patricia (Reuben Siraganian), Louis, Barbara (Keith Feelemyer) and Marilyn (Michael Loughman), 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Due to current conditions, a private funeral and burial will take place at All Souls Cemetery. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at a future date when large gatherings are safe again. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent in her memory to the Hospice of the Western Reserve (17876 St. Clair Ave, Cleveland, OH 44110) or to a local charity serving those in need due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
